NexusNet participated in the 10th Conference of ENVECON (Economics of Natural Resources and the Environment), held from December 6 to 7 in Volos.
NexusNet presented the work of its taskforce at the conference. Our esteemed member, Dimitris Kofinas, showcased our innovative methodologies and exceptional outcomes during the Nexus session, which focused on the implications of extreme events.
During his presentation, he emphasized that the task force’s efforts are advancing effectively and producing noteworthy findings from a variety of case studies conducted across Europe and beyond. He further indicated that these studies address a spectrum of extreme events, including floods, heatwaves, droughts, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, forest fires, tsunamis, tornadoes, and landslides. Moreover, he indicated that NexusNet is investigating the interrelated impacts on water, food, energy, ecosystems, health, climate, soil, land, transportation, and information and communication technology (ICT).
The 10th Anniversary ENVECON Conference was organized by the Department of Economics at the University of Thessaly. The conference took place on Friday, December 6, and Saturday, December 7, 2024. Participants had the option to attend with physical presence in Volos (at the premises of the Department of Economics located in the Matsaggou Building in Volos, Greece, or to participate online.
The objective of the conference was to address the principal issues related to the Economics of Natural Resources and the Environment, with a particular focus on various environmental challenges and the policies for their management and resolution. The conference aims to underscore the interdisciplinary character of environmental research by facilitating the exchange of perspectives and experiences among researchers from diverse scientific disciplines, thereby identifying common elements in research methodologies.
In this anniversary conference, emphasis was placed on the findings derived from a decade of interdisciplinary meetings and constructive discussions held during the numerous significant sessions of ENVECON.
